Ron received a Bachelor of Music Degree in Music Education from Houghton College, a Master of Arts Degree in Music Education from Glassboro State College, and Certification for Supervision also from Glassboro State College. His career in music education was mostly spent in the Pennsville Public School District. He taught band at various levels from elementary to high school. In addition he conducted the All-South Jersey Middle School Band (1983 and 1991), Salem County Brass Society (1982-1986) and the Newark (Delaware) Community Band (1994-1999). For the final ten years of his career, he served as Supervisor of Related Arts in Pennsville. As such, he assisted in designing and implementing the county wide Orchestral and Vocal Academies.

After retiring in 2005, Ron and his wife, Carol, have enjoyed spending time with their family, travelling extensively with their travel trailer and sharing their common interest in photography. Ron has redirected his musical energies from teaching to performing. His major instrument has been trombone; however, as a new retirement hobby, he also started playing euphonium. He has enjoyed playing the horns in the Salem American Legion Band (also assistant conductor), Recycled Brass (tuba quartet), Pea Patch Brass Quintet, and the Fort Delaware Cornet Band (as substitute performer). He has also conducted many of the Annual Woodstown Tuba Christmas Concerts. In 2018, he returned to the Salem County Brass Society, playing euphonium.
