Jim Ludlam is the Band Director in the Woodstown-Pilesgrove School District. Prior to teaching in Woodstown he was the Middle School/High School Band Director in the Pennsville School District for eight years. He has taught Marching Band at Rowan University, Cumberland Regional High School, Penns Grove High School and served as the Band Director at Holy Cross High School, Delran, and Delran Middle School. He is an active member of the the South Jersey Band and Orchestra Directors Association and has served as manager for the All South Jersey High School Symphonic Band, All South Jersey High School Wind Ensemble and the All State Symphonic Band as well as conductor of the 2004 All South Jersey Jr. High Band and the 2009 Western Burlington County High School Honors Band.
In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Jim is an active performer on tuba in the South Jersey area, having performed with The Bay Atlantic Symphony, South Shore Symphony, South Jersey Wind Symphony, South Jersey Area Wind Ensemble, Riverview Brass Quintet, the Atlantic Brass Band and the Bonsal Blues, and has conducted the Rowan Youth Orchestra.. He is currrently a member of the The Federal City Brass Band, Beck’s Band: The Philadelphia Brigade Band, Recycled Brass: Tuba Quartet and now the Salem County Brass Society.
Jim’s interest in his family history has led him to research and identify ancestors who served in the American Revolution and the American Civil War, discovering that he is a direct descendant of Henry Ludlam, First Lieutenant, Cape May Militia (1777) and Michael J. Cavanaugh, Private, Company D, 7th Pennsylvania Infantry. He is a member of the Sons of the American Revolution, and the Sons of Union Veterans, and is a Master/Scottish Rite Mason of the Penns Grove Excelsior Lodge No. 54.
